Spirulina is a microscopic freshwater plant and an amazing green superfood. It is one of the richest and most complete source of nutrition available being exceptionally high in protein (it contains 300% more protein than fish and meat…), iron, anti-oxidants and chlorophyl.
Spirulina is also great for your skin with its high content of vitamin A, vitamin B-12, vitamin E, calcium, iron and phosphorus – all of which the skin loves. Like coconut oil, spirulina powder is antibacterial and anti-ageing.
Avocadoes are wonderful for the skin. Packed full of anti-oxidants which fight skin damaging free radicals, they also contain monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids which keep the top layer of your skin moist and soft as well as act as an anti-inflammatory.
All you need:
1 tsp spirulina powder
2 tbsp raw coconut oil
1/2 raw avocado
a dash of water
All you need to do:
Simply blend the ingredients in a food processor until you have a smooth paste. Apply to your face and neck, leave for about 20 minutes, then rinse off with a warm facecloth. Just an advance warning – the mask is bright green…(but rinses clean easily!).
*You can also mix spirulina powder into our recipe for brown sugar and coconut face scrub.
